Alexandra Whittaker is a journalist living and working in New York City. She is currently the News and Pop Culture Director of Cosmopolitan magazine, where she enjoys managing two teams, writing and editing entertainment stories, and interviewing celebrities.
Before joining the Cosmo team, Whittaker was the News and Partnerships Editor of InStyle.com. She began at InStyle.com as the Associate News Editor. Before that, she worked as a morning entertainment writer for TeenVogue.com and WhoWhatWear.com simultaneously while also reporting and writing stories for Reader’s Digest. During this time, she also freelanced during New York Fashion Week for Women’s Wear Daily, a job she started while still studying journalism as an undergraduate student.
Whittaker grew up in Naperville, Ill. before attending Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She went on to graduate with her Master of Science from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. While at Marquette, she won the Roy W. Howard reporting competition and interned and freelanced for Elle, The Wall Street Journal, Glamour, USA Today, InStyle, Chicago magazine, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Women’s Wear Daily, and Woman’s Day.
